Life Drawing
I focused a lot on using pencil and graphite for my recent figure drawings. I like being able to control my mediums more. That's probably why I love charcoal pencils so much as opposed to plain vine charcoal. Any how, I've come to develop a sense of form and volume by using light, gradual lines and shading to create a popping 3D effect, causing my drawings to become more realistic. All my art still has a sense of stylization regardless, which I like personally.
Digital Painting: A New Approach
So I'm currently taking a class called "Drawing From the Tablet" which is basically a Life drawing course that utilizes Wacom/ Bamboo/ Cintaq tablets as the medium. I need more experience with digital painting and I feel like this class has already helped me rethink how I work with the tablet. Instead of using the pen pressure opacity jitter as a means of varying my opacity when I apply my stylus to the tablet, I was instructed to use the Opacity meter to create varying thicknesses of opacity. It really helps me blend my effects, it makes the finished piece feel more naturally painted. I hope nobody's bored with my self portraits but here's my finished piece that experimented with this new approach.
